Boko haram poison water sources in north-east

According to a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations (DDAPR), 7 Division Maiduguri, Col. Tukur Gusau, that was released yesterday Wednesday 30 September 2015, there is a possibility that Islamist sect Boko haram, might have poisoned some sources of water supply in some villages in the northeastern part of the country.

Gusau on Wednesday, said due to the onslaught against the members of the sect in some areas of the Northeastern states that has dislodged so many of the insurgents, they have now resorted to poisoning of sources of water supplies like streams and wells, in those areas.

The statement read;
“the latest being the poisoning of the cattle water ponds in Kangallam village along Marte and Abadam axis in Borno State where a large number of cattle died after drinking water from the ponds.”

“Credible information available to the military command indicates that though no human life was lost as a result of the barbaric act of the terrorists, however, some cattle were killed after drinking water from some poisoned sources.

“The action of the terrorists is no doubt aimed at taking their own pound of flesh on the innocent citizens and livestock as a result of the unbearable offensive operations through the combined effort of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force to route them out completely from their enclaves and hide-outs all over the North east.”

Gusau, however urged citizens of various communities in which members of Boko haram where dislodged, to drink water from only verified sources alone.
