Samuel Chukwueze happy to have his name in a world cup history

Nigeria U-17 player, Samuel Chukwueze, has expressed his delight to have crested his name on the history books of the tournament going on in Chile.

In a match which saw the Golden Eaglets trash host nation Chile, Chukwueze, who scored a brace, scored his first goal of the tournament in just 25 seconds, becoming the fastest goal scorer of the current tournament in Chile.

Chukwueze, who now holds the record of the third fastest goal in the tournaments history behind Brazil’s Fabinho who scored after nine seconds,  at the 2007 edition of the
tournament in South Korea, and his fellow countryman Celso who scored after 14 seconds at the 2005 edition in Peru.

Speaking to Fifa.com, Chukwueze, spoke of his delight to have achieved such great record,

“I had no idea, but it’s an honour to know that my name is part of the history of a World Cup.

"I never imagined anything like this. It makes me feel proud,”

Chukwueze, who is a product of Diamond Football Academy, was a substitute in the Golden Eaglets first match with USA which they won by 2 goals to nil. But he started the encounter with host nation Chile, and registered a brace.

Chukwueze, also spoke of his idol, ambition and target in the tournament.

“I know I did well today (Tuesaday), but I still have a lot of work to do to improve.

"I try to base my game on that of Arjen Robben, who can run with the ball at speed,
score goals and set them up too.”

Next up for the Eaglets, will be Croatia.
