Two men were, yesterday, docked before a Tinubu Magistrate's Court in Lagos for mugging a woman and stabbing a man with a knife at an Automated Teller Machine, ATM, spot.
The defendants are John Luka, 21, and
Bulus Amos, 23.
They are facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and assault
occasioning harm, preferred against them
by the police.
The prosecutor, Inspector Livinus Okeke,
told the court that the defendants committed the offences at 12.30p.m. on
May 2 at the ATM of Union Bank, Ojomu
Market, Lekki, Lagos.
Okeke alleged that the defendants tried to
steal money from one Miss Pauline Ogebe, who had just finished making use of the ATM and that Mr. Unity Osayuwame, who saw the attack, intervened, but was stabbed.
Okeke added that Osayuwame and Ogebe
raised an alarm which alerted passersby,
leading to the defendants' arrest.
The defendants, however, pleaded not
guilty to the charges.
Magistrate L. A. Owolabi granted the
defendants bail in the sum of N40,000
with two sureties in like sum.
Owolabi adjourned the case to May 25 for
