Suspected members of the Islamic sect Book Haram, have been caught by troops of the Nigerian Army. The suspects, who were caught in possession of some hard drugs, are said to be the suppliers of drugs and other health materials to the Sect.

Col. Sani Usman, who is the Army acting Director of Army public relations, in a statement on Tuesday, said that the suspects, were apprehended at Depchi and Geidam in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.

“Following Army Headquarters directive to troops in the North-East for a painstaking search of motorists and cargoes, troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army have intercepted and arrested some kingpins and foot soldiers of suppliers of Boko Haram terrorists with hard drugs and other stimulants between Depchi and Geidam, Geidam Local Government Area in northern part of Yobe State today,”

Col. Sani, also stated that the suspects, were also supplying petroleum products to the sect, aside the hard drugs caught in their possession.

Some of the drugs found with the suppliers, include cannabis, chlorophone substance known as Madaran suck and die, trampoline and others.

Sani, said that most of the members of the sect that had been arrested, could not read or recite the Quran. In spite of their claim that they had a desire to establish an Islamic state.

Sani said, while troops had carried out raids on some hideout of the sect, Quran or other Islamic books were not found in the possessions of the insurgents. Rather, troops, had found “ammunition, local charms, condoms and all sort of drugs including sex enhancing ones in their enclave.”

Col. Sani, also stated that the Army, will continue to fight against the sect, in other to ensure the safety and well being of Nigerians.

“The Nigerian Army would continue to do its best in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in our country in order to make Nigeria safe and secure.

“This however, requires continuous support and cooperation of the public. We always welcome and appreciate information that could lead to the arrest and pre-empting the Boko Haram terrorists and other criminal elements in the society,” he said.
