13 suspected cult members arrested by Police in Delta state

Amidst growing tension of cult activities in Ovwian Aladja community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, operatives of the States special Anti-Robbery squad, has arrested 13 suspected members of a cult group in the area.

According to information gathered, the community, was in uproar on Wednesday, when members of two separate cult groups, Eiye and Ake confraternities, attacked each other, causing residents of the community to flee for safety.

Condemning the activities of cultist in the area, the President of the Community, Mr. Paul Odiete, said " their activities have resulted in the destruction of the community town hall and vehicles worth millions of naira.

“The vigilante group went for their internal security when over 50 people attacked the town hall premises, but with the help of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, who came in at about 11:30pm, we were able to arrest 13 of the boys who are now in police custody. Some firearms were also recovered from them." Odiete said.

Mr. Charles Muka, who is the police public relations officer in the state, disclosed to newsmen, that after proper investigation, the suspects, will be charged to court.

He also warned parents to ensure that their children are engaged with meaningful ventures, in order to keep them busy, and away from criminal activities.
