The Lagos state commander of the vigilante Group of Nigeria, Ademola Akeripa, has on Sunday, been suspenpeded by the the group over alleged misconduct and insubordination.
The suspension, was made known to the members of the VGN, on saturday, during a meeting at its new office at Ikeja, Lagos state. According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. James Udomma, was appointed the interim commander of the Lagos state chapter of the group.
The suspension, decided upon by the National Executive Members of the group at its headquarters in Kaduna, was disseminated to the members by the state’s Deputy Commander, Emmanuel Ayisire.
Ayisire, disclosed that the letter sent from the headquarters, said that the suspended commander was also warned to stay away from VGN premises until investigations were concluded in the allegations levelled against him.
“Subject to the resolution of the National Executive Members of the VGN, you are hereby suspended to allow for proper investigation into various allegations and evidences produced by the executives of Lagos chapter.
“You are hereby warned to stay away from all VGN premises until determination of this case.
“Please note that your suspension is as a result of your total gross misconduct and insubordination which is contrary to the provision of the institution under article 16 sub-sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the constitution of VGN.
“Failure to comply with this directive, the National Headquarters of this organisation will not hesitate to use all legal means to maintain peace and orderliness in Lagos.
“You are invited to appear at the headquarters of the group in Kaduna on or before Oct. 28 to defend the petition against you,’’ Ayisire quoted the letter as saying.
On his part, the interim commander, Mr. James Udomma, while speaking to the Lagos members of the group, promised to protect the interest of Nigeria and the group.
Udomma, also enjoined the members of the group, to work cooperatively, to make sure crime, was reduced to the possible bearest minimum in the country, and ensure that developmental goals, are attained without disruptions.
