Former world and african football of the year, George Weah, has stated that the problem that has been rocking the Nigerian Super Eagles over the past year, is not down to the coach stephen Keshi, but the team itself.
Weah pointed out that the current situation of the team, doesn't mean that the team is bad. He clearly pointed out that the team lacks team work and ethos. And that has really affected the teams performance.
He said "Nigeria is a great footballing nation, and the fact that they didn't qualify for the past Afcon Finals, doesn't mean that they do not have a good coach or team."
"They need to get back to their utmost best, redouble their efforts in training and matches, and get back to the world stage."
"As we all know, Nigeria has lots of players, but its obvious they do not have a team. And you know that players win games, while teams win championships. We can't say that super eagles doesn't have a good coach. Let's just say they lack team work"
"I am hoping they start rebuild their team, so that they can once again be a force to recon with, in the world stage."
George Weah who is now a member of Liberian parliament representing Montserrado county in the senate, was speaking with regards to ever growing concerns over the Nigerian Football Federation decision to award coach Stephen Keshi a two year contract extension. After failing to guide the country to this years Afcon Final.
