CIV UPDATE: Ouattara Re-Elected as president of Ivory Coast

Incumbent President of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, have been sworn into office for a second term reign as the president of the country. Ouattara, was sworn in, to begin a new five year term in office, after winning reelection, in the nations first ever peaceful vote in a decade.
In attendance, were Benin President and Chief of the ECOWAS Regional Bloc, Thomas Boni Yayi, Senegal's president Macky Sall, amongst other top officials who where watching as Ouattara, who was dressed in a dark suit, formally returned to power at a ceremony in Abidjan.

73-year-old Ouattara, with his right hand raised while taking the traditional oath of office, said;

"I solemnly swear to respect and loyally defend the constitution, protect the rights and freedoms of the citizens, to conscientiously fulfil my duties in the best interest of the nation,"

"Let the people withdraw their trust and may I submit to the rigour of the law if I betray my oath."

The election, in contrast, was praised by observers as being generally smooth and peaceful, with the country's Constitutional Council confirming Monday that Ouattara scooped 83.66 percent of the vote.

He solidly beat main opposition candidate Pascal Affi N'Guessan, who took 9.29% of the vote
