Ballon d’Or 2021: Modric Names Player That Deserves To Win Award

Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric, has said Karim Benzema deserves the Ballon d’Or award this year.

Benzema was included in the just released 30-man shortlist for the award, along with favourites Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jorginho, Robert Lewandowski and N’Golo Kante.

The Real Madrid and France striker had the best scoring season of his career last year, netting 22 times in LaLiga.

He followed it up by winning the Nations League with Les Bleus last week.

Modric is now the latest player to advocate for Benzima winning the award.

"We will see. There are various candidates that could win it. For me, Karim is one of them."

“I hope that he wins it because he deserves it for how he has played this year and his trajectory."

“Above all, these recent years. He has always been at the top level. And he has now won a title with France, which is important in these awards. I hope that he wins because he deserves it,” Modric said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Real Madrid‘s last night clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.
