The Emergency Management Agency in Adamawa state, confirmed on Friday that a six year old boy, has died as a result of flood which destroyed about 116 communities in the state.

Mr. Haruna Furo, who is the Executive secretary of the Agency, told the News Agency Of Nigeria(NAN), that two-third of the state was under treat of flood.

Furo, disclosed that out of the 21 local government areas in the state, 12, have been destroyed by flood.

Furo, stated that as a result of the high volume of water released from the Kiri dam in Guyuk, Magar dam in
Madagali and Lagdo dam from Cameroun Republic, that, has made rivers across the state to overflow, causing destruction of various towns and villages across the state.

Mr. Furo, said the worst affected areas, are Shelleng, Guyuk, Numan, Demsa and Lamurde local government areas.

Others include Girei, Mubi North, Mubi South, Madagali, Maha and Yola South.

“Between yesterday (Thursday) and today, about 20 more communities have been affected.

“The situation is becoming worrisome as thousands of people are trapped,” Furo said.

Furo said that the agency, had stated distribution of relief materials to some of the affected communities. He also stressed that the situation, is currently beyond the state government alone
