80 Boko Haram insurgents lay down their weapons to the Nigerian Army

At least 80 members of the Islamist sect boko haram, have surrendered their arms and ammunition to the Nigeria army, in Borno state. This latest development, was made know by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, on thursday.

According to Col. Sani, amongst those who have surrendered are commanders of the sect, suppliers of logistics and meaningful informations,  and foot soldiers. He also said that the surrendered members, have been confirmed to have aided the attacks in Bama, Borno state.

He a statement released, Sani said;
“In a landmark event today, 80 Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered en masse to troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, in Bama, Borno State.

“The terrorists, among whom were commanders, suppliers and foot soldiers, confirmed to have partaken in several terrorist attacks, especially on Bama town, Borno State, surrendered as a result of the intense heat and continuous offensive action embarked upon by troops.”

Sani, also urged other members of the sect to surrender, or face total elimination. He said that the Nigerian Air force, the army, and other security agencies in the country are very much determined to meet the deadline set by President Muhammadu Buhari, at such, surrendering was the only option available to the insurgents.
