Barcelona's stadium dropped to a stunned silence during Saturday's clash with Alaves when it was disclosed that Sergio Aguero was struggling with chest pains, yet now Barcelona are facing an uncertain future relationship with the Argentine international.

When it was revealed that Kun was struggling with a heart issue, what may be going on in many people's mind is what we saw at Euro 2020 with Christian Eriksen, and Aguero has been diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia after he was forced off the pitch with chest pains and a shortness of breath on Saturday.

He was immediately out of danger once he reached the ambulance where he was further treated at a local hospital, although it's difficult to predict what this means for his future in the sport.

Eriksen, admittedly, is a difficult case for comparison due to the fact he suffered an actual cardiac arrest, but he was treated and had a pacemaker fitted which has actually prevented him from resuming his career with Seria A champion Inter Milan.

Aguero's illness wasn't as serious and immediately life threatening, but it is an indication of an underlying heart condition, though neither the club nor his family have released a statement confirming this.

Norberto Debbag, an Argentine cardiologist, did though provide the public with an explanation on what a cardiac arrhythmia means for an athlete.

"An arrhythmia can be studied within 24 hours, the diagnosis will already be in place," Debbag explained to Ole.

"Ventricular ones are the most complicated because there is damage to the structure of the heart, whilst Atrial arrhythmias are more benign, which can be solved with medication.

"We have no details about Aguero but it won't take long to find out, just when he will play again will depend on the time of arrhythmia that is detected."

Though It's far too early to speculate on whether this will force Aguero to retirement, especially until it's clear what type of arrhythmia plagued him on Saturday, although it can't be totally ruled out, especially based on the fact he hasn't yet been released from hospital.
